4. San Cristobal...Day 2 (Craig, 6/5/07)

Well, I just spent 1/2 hour doing this blog and I accidently erased the whole bloody thing. So it´s best to read Amy´s blog today. Highlights of the day were going out to the town of Amentenago and buying some really cool pottery, including a jaguar and a really funny looking monkey.
Also, the local market, which covers several square blocks was great. We were the only gringos in the whole thing and as usual, I got some funny looks in my Indiana Jones fedora. We ate in a small place and I had some great huevos rancheros.

During the day we visited the museum/hotel/garden of Na Balom, which had a museum with Mayan artifacts and also great pictures from the 50s of the Lacandon indians, which the owners of this place befriended.

The rest to the day we just wandered the back streets of this lovely town.

Tonight we are going back to the same restaurant we ate at last night, which has great local food. the waiters even dress in local costume. Last night I had an amazing soup with chayote, potatoes, green beans, chicken and other vegetables we couldn´t identify. Amy had a pork with a dark red sauce. Unreal!
